Thursday February 15... I got up early to take the bus to Valencia. It started raining pretty hard
on the way to Valencia. They were showing Home Alone 2 on the bus, of course dubbed in Spanish. And
it was raining hard in Valencia. I found a hotel for one night and then wandered around looking for
food.
Using the LP guide, I found some random tapas restaurant, Cafe de las Horas, still open
at around 3 or 4PM. This was very amusing as they did not speak any English. So the waiter would
speak a bunch of Spanish and I would understand about a tenth of what he was saying. I nodded
a lot. He basically ordered for me 4 tapas, which when I got them, I probably wouldn't have ordered
myself, but they were good.
Valencia doesn't have that much to see, so I just wandered around. The cathedral in Valencia is pretty
impressive. And I did see numerous Roman ruins in the city, with one excavation site on display.
You couldn't actually go down to the ruins, but there were clear walkways above.
In Spain, they eat dinner very late. I went to a restaurant near the hotel for Valencia
Paella (obviously famous in Valencia) at 8PM. They told me to come back in an hour when they opened.
Normally it is for 2 people, so I only ate about three-quarters of it. It was good, but not great.
