Saturday February 17... I was originally planning on staying the weekend in Madrid, but due to the tough hotel situation,
I decided to leave Madrid. I was going to pass by Madrid on the way back from Lisbon, anyways. So I took
the high speed train to Sevilla. The train was very comfy compared to the French system, with movies and audio
program. It is the only high-speed line in Spain. They even guarantee your money back if the train is late
by more than 5 minutes (supposedly it only happens 1 train in 250).
So I arrived in Sevilla around 2PM and found a great hotel (excellent location and very friendly staff). The
staff spoke very little English but that didn't stop them from telling me jokes and helping me out. Because
of their help, I started being more comfortable with my Spanish.
I had lunch at El Rincon de Pepe, a restaurant near the Plaza del Triunfo (between the Cathedral and the Alcazar).
I spent the afternoon and evening walking around Sevilla, which is very beautiful, not many cars and its
classic architecture. It's a pretty small city, so you can walk around it in a few hours. I had tapas for
dinner at the excellent Casa Pepe-Hillo. Highly recommended for anyone going to Sevilla.
