Monday February 19... I decided to make a day trip to Granada. The main reason for going to Granada was to see
the Alhambra and Generalife, the palace/fortress when the Muslims controlled Southern Spain, from the 9th
to 14th century. To quote the LP guide, "this monument is the stuff of fairy tales." And "Water has been used
as an art form in both places."
I had lunch at Bodegas Castaneda, which was just convenient because it was
between the bus station and the Alhambra. They were very nice there, but the food was okay and everybody in
the restaurant were tourists.
The Alhambra is amazing. The architecture was very similar to Real Alcazar in Sevilla and the view from the
Alhambra was amazing. You can see the Spanish Sierra Nevadas and the entire city of Granada. I highly recommend
going to Granada and Sevilla, the entire southern region of Spain is called Andalucia and well worth going to.
As I was leaving Granada, I had a sandwich at Pans and Company. But when I got back to Sevilla, I had to go
back to Casa Pepe-Hillo for some more excellent tapas.
